If you are a CSE student and you think that you can get a job without doing any project then it is like doing MBBS without doing surgery. If you haven’t done any project then how the interviewer will know that you have done something in the past 4 years?
The interviewer mainly judges you based on the number of projects, internships, MOOCs, etc. not on your grades, how many questions you are answering, or how much theory you know. They basically want a guy who can implement programming to solve real-life problems. So in this article, I’m going to give you the list of the top 5 projects for CSE students to boost their CVs.
1. Portfolio Website
A Portfolio Website is a project which becomes a trend nowadays. According to interviewers, If your CV doesn’t have a portfolio website under the project section then it means that you haven’t done any project in your Graduation.
According to me, it’s true and false as well, but how? See, I think if we make a portfolio website then usually we design it. But when we work on other projects we usually copy the source code and change it a little bit. But our portfolio website must match with our CV. So, we usually create the portfolio website on our own.
And I think the Interviewer also thinks in the same way. So you should properly spend time while creating a Portfolio Website and you should at least create this project on your own. I also understand that you usually don’t get free time so you can copy other projects but please spend time on Portfolio Website.
2. Face Detection
Face Detection project showcases your other programming language skills like Python, c, c++, java, etc. Face Detection Project requires a lot of coding knowledge and skill. It creates an impression in the eyes of the interviewer that the student knows the other programming languages as well.
This project is something that shows that you can implement programming to solve real-life problems as well. That’s what an interviewer wants from you. They usually don’t want a guy who has only bookish knowledge, they want someone who can solve a real-world problem. And that’s why coding is used.
3. Chat App
Chat App is a huge project and you are required to put your 100% effort and uncounted hours. while building a chat app you need to work on different interfaces and different features which brings up a lot of changes inside you and gives you the opportunity to learn a lot.
And that is what companies need from a guy so that they should not spend more time teaching you. So, your CV must have a Chat App inside your project section. I totally understand that it requires a lot of time.
To tackle this situation you can just simply surf the internet and find any project and then change accordingly but understand the whole code and functionality so that if the interviewer asks you something, you must have the answer to the question.
4. Search Engine
Search Engine is the kind of project which can help you to get a good package. This project showcases your thinking ability and knowledge. Generally, students don’t go for these high-end projects, thinking that it is quite tough, but if you don’t do something new then how will you get a good package?
So, mainly this project is for those who are targeting high-end packages or big MNCs like Google, Meta, Apple, etc. So if you are also one of them, then this project must have to be inside your CV, and don’t forget to mention it on top.
5. Image Classifier using CNN
Image Classifier using CNN is also one of those projects that can give you a huge package if it is in your CV. Basically, CNN is a model which comes under Deep Learning and CNN stands for Convolutional Neural Network Algorithm.
This project is mainly important for Data Scientists and AI/ML Students which can help you to secure a good package. And if you have mentioned it in your CV then be ready to face tough questions as the interviewer is going to cross-verify that you seriously know the CNN Algorithm or you just Copied it from the internet.
