If you are pursuing a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering and believe that you will get a job without doing any internship, then it is going to be your biggest mistake. It is because, in the world where the company is laying off their employees, do you think that your normal CVs can give you a job?
According to me, it is not possible. You need something in your CV that can make you stand out from the crowd. So, in this article, I’m going to give you the list of the Top 5 Government Internships for CSE Students which will create a good impression on the interviewers and showcase your experiences as well.
1. DRDO
So, the first internship I have for you is coming from DRDO, which is a very reputable organization in India. DRDO stands for Defence Research and Development Organization and as the name suggests it basically works in the field of research of defense and weapons. And the interns in DRDO get a stipend of 35000-60000 rupees per month.
Getting an internship in DRDO is like finding a diamond in the coalfield as the organization doesn’t hire interns on a direct basis and to get an internship in DRDO you need to make connections with the employees and higher officials of DRDO.
You can do it by finding them on Linkedin and other social media platforms. And when you find them, then do cold emailing and soft messaging to give you the opportunity to work with them. And you shouldn’t message only a few people, you should contact at least 50+ people, then only you can get the opportunity to work with them.
2. ISRO
ISRO stands for Indian Space Research Organization, which is a very important and big organization for Bharat. Getting an internship in ISRO can improve your package and make you placed in big organizations like Google, Apple, Microsoft, etc.
But You can’t directly get any internship in ISRO as well cause they also don’t hire interns directly. You need to make make connection the same as DRDO. You can also directly mail to the email address of ISRO and if there is any post available in the organization then they will let you know the process to get into the Organization.
While working with ISRO you will also get a stipend that will vary between 30000 to 90000 rupees depending upon the position for which you have been hired and the internship duration will vary between 3 to 6 months and if your work looks good for them and you can make connections with them, then you can get permanent job offers from them as well.
3. NITI Aayog
NITI Aayog stands for National Institute for Transforming India and this organization is different from the organizations mentioned above as it recruits interns directly into the organization and gives them a stipend as well. You can apply for an internship from its website niti.gov.in.
But one demerit of this organization is that you will not get a permanent job in the organization because this organization was only created to give training to the new students and make them industry-ready. Remember that you can apply only once a year for an internship at NITI Aayog and if You are not able to get an internship in NITI Aayog then you can reapply in the next year.
There is an eligibility criteria to get an internship at NITI Aayog as well. You need to be in the 2nd or more year of Graduation and the internship is available in different sectors like Engineering, Medical, etc. so you can apply according to your respected organization.
4. DPIIT Internship
DPIIT stands for Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade which is administered by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. And if you are pursuing Under Graduate/Post Graduate Degree then you are eligible for getting an internship in DPIIT.
But there are eligibility criteria as well which need to be fulfilled as well. The eligibility criteria are the same as NITI Aayog. The duration of the internship varies between 3 to 6 months. You will also get a stipend of 35000 if you get an opportunity to work with DPIIT.
5. MEA Internship Policy
MEA stands for Ministry of External Affairs and it is responsible for implementing Indian Foreign Policy. The best thing about the MEA Internship Policy is the Hiring program keeps going on whole year. But there is one disadvantage of the MEA Internship, that you will not get any stipend but in some special cases you can get up to 10000 as a stipend.
I know that there is no stipend in the MEA Internship program but the learning you will get is totally worth it and the value its certificate will add to your CV is unmatchable and can give you the opportunity to work with FAANG organizations as well.
